Welcome to the Assistive and WEArable Robotics (AWEAR) laboratory in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, University at Buffalo − SUNY. Our mission is to develop robotic systems that can assist and support human with robotic technology. Our lab is designing, fabricating, and testing innovative robotic devices for various body parts to enhance human performance.


We are currently looking for new members of AWEAR laboratory who are enthusiastic and creative to develop new types of wearable robotic devices. Everybody is welcome including Ph.D. students, master students, and undergraduate students who are excited about robotics! Dr. Jiyeon Kang served as an associate editor of 2021 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA).


2020 IEEE/EMB BioRob (International Conference for Biomedical Robotics and Biomechatronics) ended successfully with over 1500 attendees. Dr. Jiyeon Kang served as an organizing committee and workshop chair of BioRob 2020.
